Rajinikanth’s 173rd Film Titled Dharman: The Deadly Doctor; First Look Unveiled
The long wait is over. On Wednesday, 24 June 2026, the makers of Superstar Rajinikanth’s 173rd film officially revealed its title as Dharman, accompanied by the striking tagline “The Deadly Doctor”. The announcement, made by Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI) at 10 AM, has set social media abuzz and brought clarity to a project that had remained shrouded in speculation for months.
The first-look poster presents Rajinikanth in an entirely fresh avatar. Clad in a blue surgeon’s outfit and his trademark dark sunglasses, the superstar is shown inside an operation theatre, surgical knife in hand, with a defeated adversary pinned beneath his foot. The image hints at a character that blends the calling of a healer with ruthless, larger-than-life action.
Dharman is directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, who earned acclaim for his work on the Pradeep Ranganathan film Dragon. The project is presented by Kamal Haasan and produced jointly under the RKFI and Turmeric banners, marking a notable production collaboration between the two titans of Tamil cinema. Music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, continuing his fruitful association with the superstar, while the action sequences are choreographed by the celebrated stunt duo Anbariv.
According to the director, the film will weave family emotions together with high-octane action, and its soundtrack will feature eight songs spanning varied moods and styles. The supporting cast includes Simran as the leading lady, alongside Raashi Khanna and Yogi Babu in important roles.
The film’s journey to this point has not been without turbulence, having seen earlier directors Sundar C and Cibi Chakravarthy associated with the project before Marimuthu took charge. Filming is currently under way on a vast set erected in Poonamallee, Chennai.
