OG2 Update: Pawan Kalyan’s Sequel in Active Development, Shoot Expected After November

The eagerly awaited OG2, the sequel to Pawan Kalyan’s 2025 blockbuster They Call Him OG, is firmly in motion, though fans hoping for an immediate start to filming will need to remain patient a while longer. Pawan Kalyan Creative Works has confirmed that the sequel is in active development, with the shoot expected to commence after November this year, and formal discussions set to begin as soon as director Sujeeth returns from abroad.

The production house addressed the timeline directly when responding to fan requests for a second instalment. In a post on X, it stated that the actor would deliver as promised, that the timing would be communicated in due course, and that discussions would follow once Sujeeth was back from his overseas trip. A notable change this time is the banner: the second film is being produced under Pawan Kalyan’s home banner, Pawan Kalyan Creative Works, rather than DVV Entertainment, which backed the original.

There are indications that creative groundwork is already under way. A press release noted that Pawan Kalyan had recently begun discussing the story with Sujeeth, with the actor affirming his full commitment to the director’s vision and teasing one sequence that he described as set to be an iconic visual. Sujeeth is understood to have touched upon elements including the “outsider” references surrounding the protagonist, the significance of the OG pet, and several character arcs designed to evolve as the universe expands.

Reports on the precise schedule, however, vary. One account suggested that early production could begin as soon as next month, with a promotional photo shoot featuring Pawan Kalyan and a look test for the reprisal of his Ojas Gambheera character. Other reports indicated that the shoot may begin in November 2026, with the team reportedly planning a launch on 2 September 2026 to coincide with the star’s birthday, though these remain unconfirmed.

Crucially, the actor appears determined not to rush the project. Sources in Hyderabad indicate that, following the disappointment of Ustaad Bhagat Singh earlier this year, Pawan Kalyan has placed the sequel on hold until the script is irreproachable, as part of a new strategy of not moving from script to shooting until he is fully confident of the screenplay. According to one source, the actor wants OG2 to surpass the first film, and sees no point in proceeding otherwise; until the script hits the mark, the project remains on hold.

Scheduling will inevitably be shaped by the star’s other role. The post-November timeline is designed to accommodate Pawan Kalyan’s extensive duties as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. The first film was itself repeatedly disrupted by his political commitments, and trade observers have urged that a continuous, dedicated block of dates be allocated this time to ensure a smoother production.

On the casting front, at least one returning face has signalled his enthusiasm. Actor Arjun Das, who featured in the original, has expressed his eagerness to reprise his role, stating in an interview that if Pawan Kalyan, whom he now calls “Annaya”, were to call him, he would be there without a second thought.

Expectations are considerable, and with good reason. They Call Him OG, released in 2025, followed Ojas Gambheera, a retired gangster who resurfaces in Bombay in 1993, and grossed around 35 million dollars to become the ninth-highest-grossing Indian film of that year. With the franchise now confirmed and pre-production gathering pace, the next chapter for Ojas Gambheera has moved firmly from rumour into reality.
